How does a steamfitter and former teacher become two farmers with a lot of hippie practices? If you find out, let us know!
In all seriousness, we met back in 2006 and were married in 2010. We struggled to start our own family and turned to foster care where we were able to adopt our two oldest boys. During that time we also were blessed with our first biological son- zero to three kids in 10 months will force to you function in chaos!
We returned to Jason’s hometown of Underwood and raised our family there for almost eight years and becoming a family of seven. One day our daughter, who was three at the time, was unexpectedly riding her trike down the sidewalk….. naked. It was at that moment we realized we needed to get our feral children back to the country, and closer to my roots.
God led us to the land we now call home just south of Glenwood, Iowa where we built a home and the start of all of my animal dreams. Born and raised in Mills County and the daughter of a team roper/farrier and a barrel racer- animal husbandry was in my blood.
Jason, often times begrudgingly, started building fences. Neither of us knowing where we would be in a few short years.
From goats to beef cattle and dairy goats to dairy cattle, we somehow landed and fell in love with one of the most high maintenance animals out there. The dairy cow.
What started as a hobby to provide nutritious food to our large family, suddenly became a business and that’s where we stand today. We provide people of Southwest Iowa with nutritionally dense raw milk, pork and eggs.
